API: Videos and Instances

Magma has a unique indexing system for collecting video viewing metrics and social chatter. These statistics, while specific to a video, sometimes span across multiple instances of a video. Recording the overall virality and reach of the video is collected over the sum of all instances. In most cases, a video has only one instance, but some popular videos may have multiple instances across various source sites.

For example, a video like David After Dentist may have dozens, if not hundreds of duplicate videos from across the web, posted to YouTube, Break, Dailymotion, and others. While one or two of those videos may have the majority of chatter and views, other instances of this video can contribute to its reach.

By default, a Magma video and its statistics are given as a sum of all instances.
